🤝civic engagement
Jabali Project is a comprehensive mental health pilot program for Detroit’s Black male youth and adults. The goal is to create a sustained movement to increase behavioral health funding and services by using trusted community spaces “Barbershop Talk” sessions. The program combines a Holistic Wellness Curriculum (addressing mental, emotional, and spiritual health) with a Supportive Counseling Training pipeline. Participants (ages middle school through adulthood) will gather every 4th Wednesday for facilitated discussions, self-assessments, and action planning. Over time these “supportive counselors” will recruit and train new leaders, creating a growing network of community-based mental health advocates.
