About this event
Join A.R.I.S.E Appalachia for their regular monthly meeting! Every meeting we come together to complete a community action and talk about current events. Meetings switch between being virtual and in-person so that everyone can join the group even if they can't travel to every meeting! Below is the schedule: August 8th - In Person; Sep 12th - Virtual; Oct 24th - In Person; Nov 14th - Virtual SPECIAL AUGUST MEETING NOTES!
Join us for an evening of community, conversation, and inspiration as we hear from progressive candidates and elected officials serving Sevier County and beyond. Just days after the State Primary and County General Election, we'll discuss what it's really like to run for office, why local elections matter, and how each of us can make a difference between now and November through door knocking, phone banking, talking with neighbors, and other grassroots organizing. Whether you're curious about running for office yourself, want to meet the candidates who will be on your ballot this November, or are looking for ways to get involved, this is a great opportunity to connect with your community. We'll have food, music, and plenty of time to mingle—just bring a friend! Important: There is no cell phone reception inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We will meet at Anna Porter Public Library at 4:30 PM and depart promptly at 4:45 PM to caravan a short distance into the park together. If you arrive after we've left, it may be difficult to find the event location, so please plan to arrive on time. Casual dress appropriate. We will be in the woods!
