About this event
Please join us Thursday, September 24th at 7 p.m. at Ramona Hall, 4580 N. Figueroa, in Highland Park for a midterm-focused meeting! We have an opportunity to start shifting the landscape by impacting critical races and protecting our very right to vote. We’ll have special guest speakers: an election expert and progressive Angela Gonzales Torres, who is fighting to unseat Jimmy Gomez! Mona Field, a longtime Eagle Rock resident and Glendale Community College Professor Emerita of political science, has a long familiarity with both local and state politics and is the author of "California Government and Politics Today", now in its 15th edition. Mona will discuss the pros and cons of the 14 state ballot measures, and share background on who is behind or against them. Angela Gonzales-Torres is a lifelong Angeleno, the daughter of a deportee, and an equity and justice advocate. Her path from community organizer to congressional candidate reflects a strong commitment to uplifting immigrant and working families like her own. As a grassroots collective committed to nonviolent action, we are meeting locally in Northeast Los Angeles to build community, offer trainings, connect people with possible actions, and develop the skills we'll need to defend our democracy. Our monthly in-person meetings include a brief orientation, a teach-in topic, action-planning, and networking. Join us to: Defend Democracy | Fight Fascism | Protect Human Rights | Support Vulnerable Communities We are switching to our own Dashboard, please sign up on this link: https://www.mobilize.us/nelaalliancefordemocracy/event/868935/ **A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We expect hosts to ensure all participants in your event uphold this commitment.
