About this event
Canvass local businesses in Donelson and share practical information about what businesses can do if ICE comes to their workplace—including steps to help protect the rights and safety of employees and customers. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer to help, and we especially need Spanish-speakers. The Trump administration is sending ICE deep into communities to spread fear among immigrants. Many families—including citizens—are now afraid to go to work, shop, or go about daily life. We want to show immigrants they are welcome and essential to our communities, we are going to local businesses and asking them to post signs supporting immigrant neighbors and rejecting ICE intimidation, and create private employee-only spaces that ICE cannot legally enter without a signed judicial warrant. Results from previous canvasses: Over 300 businesses canvassed, over 40 volunteers, over 200 signs, and "know your rights" pamphlets accepted. Never canvassed before? We got you! You do not go alone. We pair newcomers with experienced folks. We will be emailing training material to people that sign up through Mobilize.
