Jackson Heights: Día de los Muertos Day of Action - End the ICE Age

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · 4:00 PM EST
Queens, NY
🤝civic engagement
This Día de los Muertos, join us to honor and remember the lives taken by ICE and Border Patrol — and to demand an end to the violence. Drawing on the Día de los Muertos tradition of honoring loved ones, we will gather to paint candles with the names of people who have died in ICE custody and been killed by ICE and Border Patrol agents. Then we will walk together as a group and hang the candles on the barricades on 34th Avenue as a public memorial. Alongside each candle, we will share concrete calls to action that anyone can take to demand that Congress get ICE out of our communities, redirect ICE funding, and shut down ICE detention centers for good. This event is part of End the ICE Age, a national day of action happening in cities across the country October 31–November 2. A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
