About this event
John Lewis: Congressman, Activist and Civil Rights Icon. Sometimes change calls for a little trouble. Indivisible Fremont CA and the League of Women Voters, presents a Free Screening of - John Lewis: Good Trouble, as part of the film and community conversation series "Our Empowered Community Empowers Our Democracy." The film will be shown in the Niles Discovery Church's Sanctuary Theater. Afterward, guests are invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments and a community conversation about the film and what it means for protecting democracy at home. "Protecting and securing our elections starts in the heart of every voter," said Lauren Teixeira, Co-Lead, Indivisible Fremont CA. Please join us on Saturday, October 24th, at 1 pm. Our Empowered Community project will utilize documentary films to spark shared understanding and inspire dialogue as civic education—educating viewers while building connected, engaged communities. Focused post-screening conversations deepen this impact further, turning passive viewing into active reflection—transforming individual awareness into collective commitment and sustained democratic participation. IFCA is dedicated to promoting a welcoming and inclusive community, advocating for democracy and justice, empowering individuals to create positive change.
