Blue Turn Indivisible Monthly Meeting, feat. Akemi Flynn (IPEN: Immigrant Protection & Empowerment)

October meeting's guest speaker is **Akemi Flynn, Managing Director of the Immigrant Protection & Empowerment Network (IPEN) at Amigos de Guadalupe**. Akemi has decades of experience in community organizing and coalition-building in Silicon Valley, and is currently working across Santa Clara County to protect and support immigrant communities. You may have already come across Akemi as we've mobilized to support efforts against mass surveillance and ICE Out of Gilroy. New people are welcome! Let's discuss plans and ideas for action, report on anything new we've learned, and chat with fellow defenders of democracy. Let's deepen our bonds and organize ourselves for strategic action. With the election almost here, we'll also start talking about **what comes next**. We'll be returning our focus to immigrant protection, including opposing mass detention, and thinking more broadly about how we can support and uplift marginalized communities locally. Akemi will help us think about what's happening right now, what communities need, and where we can make a difference. **Bring a friend and some food to share — it's potluck!** If you can't make it to this or any of our monthly meetings, but would like to sign up to stay in touch: https://blueturnindivisible.org
