Turn Up for Good Cause!

** THIS VOTE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THE NEXT COMMON COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 21ST ** After months of continued advocacy by Citizen Action CNY, the Utica Common Council will finally be voting on Good Cause Eviction at the next meeting, Wednesday October 21st at 7:00pm. Right now, too many renters are facing excessive rent hikes, non-renewals, or unfair evictions that are forcing them out of their homes and neighborhoods. Utica has seen rents rise over 20% over the last few years, one of the highest rates in the nation, and the effects of the housing crisis are seen every day. Good Cause Eviction allows more tenants to remain in their homes, combats excessive rent hikes, and reduces the burden on the housing courts. If you pay your rent and you follow your lease, you should be able to stay in your home! Turn out Oct. 21st at 7pm at Utica City Hall to show the Common Council that Utica needs Good Cause!
