Michigan Secretary of State Mobile Unit

Detroit Change Initiative (DCI) continued financial support to cover the cost of State IDs for all students who wanted one. Removing financial barriers creates access, and access creates opportunity. Students, staff, parents, and community members had full access to the same services offered at a branch office, including renewing car registrations, renewing driver’s licenses and State ID cards, voter registration, change-of-address services, enrollment in the organ donor registry, and more. The participation was overwhelming, and the gratitude expressed by those served was a powerful reminder of why bringing services directly into our school communities matters.
