🤝civic engagement
In November we'll welcome Megan Peterson and Erin Maye Quaid, the Executive Director and Senior Advisor, respectively, of [Gender Justice](https://www.genderjustice.us/) to present on "Gender and Authoritarianism" at our monthly meeting. Building off the enthusiasm for our "soup and cake" with the Debate Watch Party, November's meeting will kick off with a potluck STARTING AT 5:00 with the actual meeting beginning at 6:00. Authoritarians regularly use gender as a wedge issue to create fear, divide people, and reinforce traditional hierarchies and patriarchy. The Trump regime is following this playbook on many fronts: trans youth participation in sports, Hegseth's attacks on diversity in the military, the SAVE Act to disenfranchise women voters, blocking health care for trans youth, and on and on. Gender Justice's presentation will outline these issues in a potent and coherent way and better equip us to protect the rights of ALL people to live fully and freely with respect to gender. Megan and Erin will present by Zoom, allowing us to share the event with Indivisible groups throughout CD8. This is something of an experiment. We will still meet in person in Duluth for the potluck at 5:00 PM, discussion and planning on how gender advocacy might fit into our 2027 planning. Please spread the word.
