Road to Black November "Boots on the Ground" Rally & Training

Road to Black November is moving into the field—and we need all hands on deck! The purpose of Road to Black November is simply to help increase voter participation in Jefferson County, Alabama. Join Faith & Works for our virtual Boots on the Ground Rally and Canvass Training. This weekly gathering will prepare volunteers to go door to door across Jefferson County and help Black residents check their voter status, register or update their information, find accurate election information and make a plan to vote. Faith & Works’ data identified more than 9,000 Black residents who are inactive or have been dropped from the voter file in the communities we are working to reach. Some residents may believe they are ready to vote, only to discover a problem when they arrive at the polls. We cannot wait until November 3 to reach them. During the rally and training, you will: Learn the Road to Black November canvassing strategy. Practice how to introduce yourself and speak with residents. Learn how to help residents check their voter status or register. Review our canvassing tools, safety practices and volunteer expectations. Get answers to your questions. Choose upcoming canvassing shifts and invite others to join you. No canvassing experience is required. Faith & Works will provide training, materials, scripts and support. Please bring your calendar so you can sign up for every shift you are available to serve. Canvassing begins Saturday, September 26, and continues every day through Election Day, Tuesday, November 3—including Election Day. Our virtual Rally and Training will take place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. We are not asking you to do everything. We are asking you to do your part. Invite a friend or family member to register, attend the training and canvass with you. Road to Black November is strictly nonpartisan. We do not support or oppose candidates or political parties, and we will not tell residents who to vote for. Learn more at www.RoadToBlackNovem
