If you've ever found yourself in a situation where someone was agitated or argumentative and you didn’t know how to defuse the situation, you may benefit from de-escalation training. Our political divide in America has widened to a destructive degree. Conversations about politics with family, friends and neighbors have, unfortunately, become harder and harder in recent years. These types of conversations should be spirited but also respectful and productive, and too often that is lost to heated emotions. This 60-90 minute session covers basic de-escalation techniques, including verbal and non-verbal, examples of what to do and what not to do; basic causes of escalating behavior; practice scenarios; and when (and who) to call for help. Our trainer, Liz, is a practiced de-escalation educator and lawyer who practiced for 35 years in multiple public sector jobs. In her various roles, she also trained managers, supervisors, and employees, on how to deal with and respond to discriminating and harassing behaviors, including scenario-based training such as this de-escalation webinar.
