📢political action
In America, the right of citizens to vote and to have their vote counted is fundamental! We are a nation where the law rules--not a self-proclaimed king. "Hands Off Our Vote" are Yolo County Days of Action to stand up for the rule of law and the right of the people to elect principled leaders who will represent their interests--not those of the billionaires. On numerous Wednesdays leading up to the election, we're showing up in Davis at the corner of 5th and B Streets (in front of City Hall) from 4:30-5:30. Bring your signs and your voices! We will remind everyone to vote early and use ballot boxes! The President has made it clear that he will do anything to prevent the fair midterm elections that will undoubtedly serve as a rejection of his failed policies! He has gutted federal agencies whose mission was to protect the rights of the people to vote. He has even instructed the U.S. Postal Service to interfere in the election by refusing to mail state ballots to voters and by changing the age old practice of same-day postmarking. His masked, armed forces have indicated that they might show up to polling places under the pretense of enforcing immigration laws, but with the clear intent of discouraging voter participation. We need to be clear, the people will prevail! As a reminder, a core principle behind "Hands Off Our Vote" events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
