About this event
Senator Marsha Blackburn has not met with constituents in Tennessee in an open, public forum since 2017. Indivisible Progressive Nashville invited her to work with us months ago on organizing a town hall, but we did not hear back. We have notified her in three different ways that we now have a venue and a date for the town hall, which will be within the time frame that the Senate is still in recess – but we only got a form letter back from her office. Perhaps she will not appear, but we will press ahead, holding an empty-chair town hall, if necessary – on Thursday, September 10th at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill. The address is 900 Nelson Merry Street, Nashville, TN 37203, near 625 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. There will be ample parking. People are encouraged to arrive by 6:45. If Senator Blackburn does not show up, we will have an experienced, knowledgeable panel answering questions and discussing the ramifications of legislation that Senator Blackburn has voted for, like the "Big Beautiful Bill," and problems and policy choices that face Tennessee. The panel at the town hall will include Michael Eric Dyson, Justin Kanew, Jorge Zetina and Kiran Sreepada.
