(10/31) the RIGHT CHOICE for Students, Educators, & Working Families: Community Canvass (SD 26)

HALLOWEEN GOTV FINALE! Our last and biggest canvass of the year, at Echo Park. Costumes welcome (nothing covering your face), done by 1 PM with plenty of time for trick-or-treating. Three days later, we win. We're talking to our Eastside neighbors about the November 3rd election: the State Senate seat that decides community college funding, the college board that runs our nine campuses, and the measures keeping schools and health care funded. East LA College students lead this canvass, in the same neighborhoods where students organized the 1968 walkouts. No experience needed. Every canvass starts with breakfast, a short program, and full training. You'll be paired with a partner, given a walkable route, and back before the afternoon. First-timers are not just welcome, they're the point. Bring comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen, and your phone (we set up the free canvassing app on site). Can't walk a route? There's always a role at the launch site. AFT Local 1521 is the union of faculty and staff at LA's nine community colleges. Paid for by AFT Local 1521.
