The Islamic Center of Lake Norman has every legal right to build its mosque off Brawley School Road — the land has been zoned for religious assembly since 1998, and town officials have confirmed the project meets every ordinance. But at recent Board of Commissioners meetings, our Muslim neighbors have been met with open bigotry: speakers calling their faith "evil," invoking hateful stereotypes, and trying to push the mosque out of town using fear instead of facts. That's not who we are in Iredell County.
