Join Sunrise Movement Orlando for the STAR rapid transit plan’s first major vote in front of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. - We’re celebrating the beginning of a new Orlando, an Orlando where you can get where you want to go in a way that’s fast, safe, and affordable for all. It’s time to turn the page on local governments relying only on highways, lanes, and driving, to fix transportation in Orlando; it hasn’t worked. We need investment in Trains and Buses now! It’s STARlando, not CARlando. Let’s begin a new chapter where everyone in Orlando can decide how they wanna get around, on a train, bus, bike, walking, or driving. But, we need your support; the County Commission and Mayor will only vote to move STAR forward if the community comes out in big numbers in support! Orange County will be voting on September 29th to move forward with a feasibility study, with the final vote to be made early 2027. We’ll be hosting a press conference to hear from local leaders, a Salsa workshop to celebrate the community’s accomplishment in getting STAR a vote, and public comment for the Orange County Commission to hear your story about why you support STAR and public transit in Orlando. The STAR Rapid Transit Plan will speed up transit funding and: - Help deliver SunRail on evenings and weekends - Increase speed of Lynx Buses & SunRail - Create new rail and bus routes across Orange County With thousands of petition signatures in support and town halls across the County collecting feedback, the STAR rapid transit plan was made by the community for the community!
