About this event
As a member-led youth movement, MOVE Texas Members are at the heart of our mission to transform democracy in Texas and beyond. **Born out of the student organizing movement in San Antonio in 2013,** MOVE Texas was founded by young people who saw a gap in civic engagement and decided to take action. What started as a small group of student leaders registering their peers to vote has since grown into a statewide movement of young people that trains, mobilizes, and empowers a new generation of progressive community organizers. ## Who are MOVE Texas Members? MOVE Texas members are the backbone of the organization, reflecting the energy and diversity of young Texans leading the charge for a more just and equitable future for all Texans across race, class, and place. As a youth movement, MOVE Texas members are under 35, and are either: - **Students:** The original foundation of MOVE Texas, young leaders organizing on campuses across the state, running voter registration drives, educating their peers, and leading local issue-based campaigns. - **Community Members:** Young Texans who are inspired by MOVE Texas’ mission and actively work to build power in their neighborhoods, from hosting events to advocating for direct local and statewide policy change. ## MOVE Texas members receive: - Access to MOVE trainings, programs, and resources, - Voting power for statewide and local campaigns, - Exclusive invitations to MOVE statewide events, - Connection to a network of peers organizing across the state, - Exclusive members merch. MOVE Texas membership is open to anyone who believes in the power of young people to lead and shape the future AND our present.
