About this event
ICE has recently intensified its destructive activities, especially in towns with large immigrant populations like Plainfield and North Plainfield. Masked and heavily armed agents are snatching people off the street and out of their homes, disrupting and destroying the lives and livelihoods of our hard-working, law-abiding neighbors. YOU CAN HELP. Come to this 2-hour training and learn about: - The rights of all residents of NJ, regardless of citizenship status.
- What to do if you see, or think you see, ICE in the community.
- The many ways to help protect immigrants, from patrolling to responding to calls to delivering food and more.
- How to take action RIGHT NOW. Every day, the stories get worse: innocent people yanked from their cars by the collar, parents hauled off as they are putting their children to bed. We cannot fix this catastrophe overnight, but this training will help you understand what's happening and what you can do about it. The training is in person and will be led by leaders and members of local Rapid Response teams, all well-versed in immigrant rights and protections. The two hours allows time for introductions up-front and questions at the end. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
