About this event
Nash County • Johnston County • Pitt County • Wilson County • ALL In organizing, relationships are at the heart of our power. One-on-ones give us the opportunity to learn about another person’s values, vision, life experiences, motivations, and hopes for their community. These are planned and structured conversations where we do the majority of the listening. We ask thoughtful questions, listen for the experiences and values that shape someone’s perspective, and look for opportunities to connect their personal story to collective action. In this training, we’ll practice how to: * Identify people we want to build relationships with
* Prepare for an intentional one-on-one
* Ask questions that uncover values, motivations, and stories
* Practice active listening and follow-up questions
* Connect someone’s individual experiences to collective action
* Make a clear and meaningful invitation into action
* Follow up and continue developing the relationship Organizing isn’t just about getting people to show up. It’s about building relationships that help people discover their own power and move together toward a shared vision. Come ready to practice, listen, and have some conversations!
