📢political action
Stitches for Solidarity is a group of sewers/quilters/knitters who are interested in putting their needles to work for spreading caring and kindness in these troubled times. Our projects include collaboratively making quilts to distribute to immigrant families in Camden; crafting ‘Embracelets’ which are friendship bracelets that each bear the name of a person being detained by the Trump administration; knitting and crocheting baby blankets, hats and scarves for families in need; and knitting, crocheting, and sewing red protest hats based on the historical hats worn by Norwegian citizens silently resisting the Nazis during WWII. As a group, we continue to look for ways to help those in need in our communities while we use our skills as a form of resistance. All skill levels are welcome! Even if you’ve never made a quilt or picked up a knitting needle before, we always need people to cut and iron fabric, or roll skeins of yarn into balls, And our sessions offer a wonderful opportunity to build community and possibly learn a new skill at the same time!
