About this event
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT BEYOND VOTING will present a non-partisan explanation of the propositions. They will weigh the good and bad implications of each proposition should it become law. Many of the ballot measures look innocent or well-meaning on the surface but have hidden purposes and potentially awful consequences. Knowledge is power! Together we can learn the facts and vote accordingly. Q & A after the presentation. How to turn an initiative into a proposition? Under the Arizona Constitution, propositions reach the ballot in two main ways: citizen initiatives, which require signature-gathering campaigns, and legislative referrals, which bypass the governor and go directly to voters after a majority vote of lawmakers.
