Ventura Audubon Society September Speaker Program: Paddling into a Natural Balance

Bio: Chuck Graham is a freelance writer and photographer based in Carpinteria, CA. He has documented the recovery of the Channel Islands since the late 1990s. His stories and photographs have appeared in a variety of publications, including Backpacker, Men’s Journal, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife Magazine, The Surfer’s Journal, High Country News, Outdoor California, Westways, and Natural History. Program Description: Chuck will be discussing his third and most recent book, "Paddling into a Natural Balance, Stories of Kayaking and Conservation around Channel Islands National Park." Woven around his own personal kayaking trips through one of the least visited national parks in North America, the book chronicles the recovery of flora and fauna across the islands—with chapters exploring seabird recovery, the reintroduction of bald eagles, the island scrub jay, and peregrine falcons. Join us at 6:30 for a book signing—a great chance to grab a copy and meet Chuck in person! A few notes: Parking is available in the lot behind Timbre, or along S. Santa Cruz Street and Main Street.
