Worried about housing rights? Want to make your voice heard? PA Stands Up Housing team members are lobbying senators in Harrisburg from the Urban Affairs & Housing Committee to let them know that we are worried about the housing crisis, especially after it wasn't addressed in Gov. Shapiro's most recent budget. Bills we are lobbying for: SB-643: Fair Chance Housing (Aims to prohibit housing discrimination based on prior arrest or conviction record. The hope is that those with old or non-violent convictions will have an easier time finding safe and affordable housing with a reduced likelihood of recidivism.) SB-745 & 746/HB-1250: Manufactured Homeowner Equity Preservation Package/Protecting Residents of Manufactured Home Communities (Amends the Manufactured Home Community Rights Act to protect manufactured homeowners from unreasonably large rent hikes and improve transparency and stability in these communities. Also amends the Manufactured Home Community Rights Act to empower manufactured home community residents to have a chance to buy their community if it’s up for sale — protecting affordability and community stability.)
