About this event
This is a virtual event. The live event is being held in Portland. This event is for people interested in attending virtually. **Without voting rights there is no democracy. It is as simple as that.** Voting is how we choose leaders, shape our future, and hold power accountable to the people. **But voting rights are under attack.** Election workers face intimidation. Executive orders restrict access to the ballot. The Supreme Court has made it nearly impossible for voters of color to win fair representation. And outsiders have come to Oregon to sow distrust of the mail-in voting system. Indivisible Oregon is hosting this zoom call, so everyone has access to this important live panel presentation, featuring Senator Jeff Merkley, Secretary of State Tobias Read, President of the Oregon Association of County Clerks Dag Robinson, and Common Cause Oregon executive director Kate Titus. Moderator Don McIntosh will lead a practical discussion of: **VOTING RIGHTS:** Learn how the Oregon election process works, your rights as an Oregon voter, the post-mark rule, and how to track your vote. **PROTECTING VOTER DATA**: Hear about voter file privacy, how elections are validated, and questions of voter fraud, voter roll integrity and cyber threats to voting machines. **COUNTERING VOTER SUPPRESSION**: Learn strategies to ensure your vote counts. Learn how to report incidents of voter intimidation or suppression. Get an update on threats to mail-in voting. **BALLOT DROP BOX INTEGRITY**: Hear from Common Cause of Oregon about their Election Protection and voter education efforts, and how to volunteer to monitor ballot drop boxes. **Our vote is our voice. Democracy only works when every eligible voter can participate freely, safely, and equally.**
