Session 4: The Iceberg Is Right Here Connecting history to our community today, how the past continues to shape the present right where we live. The essence of the Good Trouble Anti-Racism Workshop Series (hereafter referred to as GTAR Workshop Series) is encapsulated in a quote from Congressman John Lewis: "Not the civil rights we inherited-but the civil rights we are building." GTAR Workshop Series is created and led by Sondra Light-Holt - a Black woman, a community health provider and advocate, a lifelong resident of Sandusky Ohio, and an active member with the NAACP. She is a board member of Serving Our Seniors and brings 25 years of experience in the field of healthcare to this Series. THE GTAR Workshop Series is anti-racism education through the lens of healthcare, allowing us to more fully understand one another across racial lines, thus strengthening and expanding our community. Racism is America's wound. This series provides information regarding the harms of racism in housing, healthcare, education, and the justice system. Each session equips participants with factual knowledge, historical context, and civic language to recognize and respond to systemic racism in their own lives. The Series intentionally encourages people of all races to open up, share their experiences, ask hard questions and be heard without judgment. We'll learn, expand and strengthen our community, and take action by working together to heal our wounds, thus mitigating future damage. Medical racism runs throughout this series as a core thread, because community health is inseparable from community justice. Solidarity is practiced in real time, not just discussed in theory. Attendees are encouraged to share experiences of being targeted by racism, or being encouraged to behave in a racist way. Additionally, discussion is open to talking about positive experiences of friendship or power-sharing partnerships across racial lines. This model allows participants to acknowledge what has occur
