Action Alert: Speak up About ICE Commandeering County Property! Please plan to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting on one or two Tuesdays a month at 9:00 AM at 1055 Monteret Street in SLO. The board voted to prohibit ICE from using county-owned or controlled property as a staging area, processing location, or operations base for federal immigration enforcement. The resolution also stipulates that non-public areas of any County facility may not be used for immigration enforcement without a valid warrant, writ, or order signed by a judicial officer. We encourage you to attend meetings in person or via zoom or to submit written comments to urge the county to enforce this resolution at the jail. Currently, ICE conducts raids in the public lobby and transfers individuals via non-public sally ports without judicial warrants. If enforced, this resolution could end these operations. The sheriff facilitates these raids and has even cordoned off an area in the lobby for ICE agents to use for their operations. How to take action: - Attend a Meeting: 9:00 AM. And make submit a slip to make a comment for General Comment on a Non agenda item. - Submit Written Comments: Boardofsups@co.slo.ca.us - Review the Full Resolution: https://agenda.slocounty.ca.gov/iip/sanluisobispo/file/getfile/178340 To attend via zoom: To participate remotely, use the Zoom link or call-in information listed below: Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82645303511?pwd=i_5J8pV6ehVWPeuqYbAVNs8ZByX2RQ.iUbzhU QWApEMzaPs Telephone: +1 786 635 1003 Meeting ID: 826 4530 3511 Passcode: 461053 How to Provide Public Comment: - In Person or Remote: You may speak for up to three minutes on agenda items and three minutes during general public comment.
