About this event
Please join the weekly vigil for peace in our communities and in the world, in solidarity with our friends, neighbors, and community members who are being unjustly detained and deported by ICE. By signing up, you will help us build our collective power as we add our vigil to the map of Freedom Vigils occurring every week across the country. While this gathering was convened by Buddhists, it is open to people of all faiths and of none. The environment of City Hall is full of activity and creates an opportunity to practice meeting life as it is, not as we wish it to be. Join in to practice silent contemplation / meditation as you desire. We dedicate the merit of our practice as we individually see fit, with the group intention of bringing peace into the world, and especially into communities threatened with detention and deportation by ICE. Everyone who wants to cultivate peace through silent presence on the steps of City Hall is welcome! *A core principle behind all Freedom Vigils is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
