🤝civic engagement
In the 1940s, Norwegians quietly defied Nazi occupation by knitting and wearing red, pointed hats with tassels. A simple garment became an act of protest. More recently, knitters in Minnesota revived this tradition during a surge of ICE activity—using red hats as a visible sign of solidarity and resistance. We carry that work forward here. Proceeds from the sale of our patterns and finished hats and bandanas are donated to CASA de Maryland, supporting immigrant communities through advocacy and assistance. Join us as we knit, crochet, sew and craft in solidarity. We will keep gathering—as long as there is a need to resist. 🧶 **Resistance Knit-In (Ongoing)** 📅 **When:** Sundays (ongoing) ⏰ **Time:** 2–4 pm 📍 **Where:** The Shops at Kenilworth – Common Area **How:** Supplies if you have them for the Melt the Ice Hat, Pin or Baltimore Bandana and/or the Blue Wave Hat . Knit and crochet patterns can be found on Ravelry. Beginners welcome, and supplies may be available to share.
